Contract-to-cash

Contract-to-cash is the end-to-end financial workflow that begins when a customer contract is signed and ends when payment has settled and is reflected in the books. It covers contract terms, scheduled billing, receivables, payments, settlement, revenue recognition, and reporting.

Reconciliation

Reconciliation is the workflow that confirms every transaction is recorded, matched to the right source, and posted to the right account — across bank activity, payment processors, invoices, payroll, and vendor bills.

Stateful ledger

A stateful ledger is a double-entry, append-only general ledger that is continuously maintained as activity happens. Postings carry references to the events that created them, so financial state is always current and always explainable.

Revenue reporting

Revenue reporting is the set of reports and metrics that describe how a business earns money: revenue by customer, product, period, and recognition status, along with deferred revenue, ARR, and growth metrics.

Settlement and cash application

Settlement is the journey from a customer payment through a payment processor to the bank. Cash application is the workflow of matching settled cash back to the invoices and obligations it satisfies, after fees, refunds, chargebacks, and FX.

Stripe reconciliation

Stripe reconciliation is the workflow that matches Stripe charges, fees, refunds, chargebacks, and payouts to the invoices that earned them and the bank deposits that received them — so revenue, AR, and cash all agree.

SaaS revenue recognition

SaaS revenue recognition is the process of recognising subscription and usage revenue over the period it is earned — under ASC 606 / IFRS 15 — from contract terms, rather than when cash is received.

Deferred revenue

Deferred revenue is income a company has billed or collected but not yet earned. It is a liability that releases to revenue over time as the underlying obligation is fulfilled — central to any subscription or contract-based business.

Usage-based billing accounting

Usage-based billing accounting is the practice of metering consumption, rating it against contract pricing, invoicing the result, and recognising the revenue correctly — for consumption, seat-based, and hybrid pricing models.

Multi-entity accounting

Multi-entity accounting is the practice of maintaining separate books for each legal entity or subsidiary while consolidating them into a single group view — handling intercompany activity, multi-currency, and eliminations.

Startup board reporting

Startup board reporting is the recurring package of financial metrics and narrative a company prepares for its board — typically revenue, burn, runway, cash, P&L, and KPIs — to show performance and support decisions.

Burn and runway reporting

Burn is the rate at which a company spends cash; runway is how many months of cash remain at the current burn. Together they are the core survival metrics for venture-backed companies.
